I am also seeking information on this same group of Ramsey's in Edgefield. I am descended from Randle(Randal, Randol) Ramsey born 1801 in South Carolina. Randle (Randol) first appears in the 1830 Federal Census for Edgefield living next to M Weathington (Minoah Worthington) and R Weathington (Richard Worthington), who was his bother-in-law with whom his family moved to Cass County, GA in 1843. Randle's wife was Dorcas Worthington (Richard's sister) - they were married abt. 1820 in Edgefield District.
I suspect that Thomas Ramsey Sr could be Randle's father, but have nothing to prove it. The 1800 Federal Census shows Thomas Ramsey in a near adjacent entry to Minoah Worthington (Withington), the father-in-law of Randle shown in the 1830 census. In addition, Randle and Dorcas did name a daughter Lavina. Their first child (my 2nd great grandfather) was named Isaac, b. 1822, coinciding with the 2 Isaac's that you identified.
I have also looked into the Columbia County Georgia Ramsey's but have not been able to make a connection. According to a lady name Carolyn Ramsey that I once corresponded with, they have a family legend that some Ramsey's stayed behind in South Carolina as their family passed through. With the heavy occurance of the Isaac and Randle (Randolph) names within the Columbia Country Ramsey's, I can't help but think there might be a connection.
It does sound like you have some land records and wills that I do not have - I would love to get that information from you. I have been planning to go to the Edgefield Historic Society library in the town of Edgefield to try to obtain additional info. I do have probate records for Minoah Worthington and som additional information about Randle Ramsey if you think that could be of any help to you.
