My maiden name is Nichols. I can trace my GGgrandfather to Randolph Co. GA. My father said the Nichols came from SC by the way of GA before coming to AL to settle. My GGgrandfather's name was Zachariah James but do not know his father's name. It would be good to know of some Nichols in Edgefield CO. My husband's Ggrandfather, John Edward Spann was born in Edgefield Co. in the late 1790's.
I am not any help to you but maybe someone out there can help me.
