Jeremiah Bussey was the grandson of Rev. Charles Bussey of Stevens Creek Church. Here is an excerpt of a letter written in 1845 by Barnabus Pace, Jeremiah Bussey's first cousin:

"Jerry was a highminded, honorable man, had many friends, married a Miss Harriett Hightower, a lady that had few equals - for a few years happiness and prosperity attended him, but that enemy of all social happiness, intemperence, brought him to an untimely grave, much to the grief of his brothers and sisters and numberous family connections, for he was the pride of all the family connection... His wife died a short time before he did leaving three small children."

Family Bible records show Jeremiah married October 13, 1811 and died Oct. 18, 1822. Harriett died Oct. 10, 1820. Children were: Eliza Ann born Oct. 6, 1812 died in infancy; Frances Emmaline born Jan. 5, 1814, married Daniel Mitchell Glover and died 1-6-1884; Elizabeth born 11-2-1815 married N.T. Magruder; Charles Lewis born 1818 married E.M. Holland and his twin brother Joseph Hightower Bussey born 12-17-1818 died June 1820.

I don't have the church rolls, but I hope this helps you some.

Don Milford
