Wayne, I found 2 potential listings -

Margaret M? 32 b. TN
Amanda C. 12 b. TN
Sarah M. J. 10 b. TN
Mary V. 6 b. TN
America W. 3 b. TN
Sawson or Lawson (male) 6 months b. TN

The 3 oldest children were listed as having attended school during the past year.

1850 US Census
District 92 Missouri
Thomas Butler 38 Laborer
Mary 35 b. KY
Sarah E. 17 b. KY
Nancy P. 15 b. KY
Peter 13 b. KY
David 12 b. KY
Benjamin 9 b. KY
Milberry (female) b. KY
John 4 b. KY
Alexander 2 b. KY
Missouri (?) spelling difficult to read b. KY

This Thomas and Mary checked the box "cannot read or write". None of their children were listed as having attended school during the past year.

Also - I couldn't help but notice that your Thomas was born in Edgefield. I am trying to find information about my 4GGrandfather, Thomas Lee of Edgefield who died in late 1804/or early 1805. Notably, almost everyone associated with the administration of Thomas Lee's estate was either a Butler or related to a Butler, including Russell Wilson. Do you have any information about this Thomas Lee? I know it's a long shot, but if you do, I would greatly appreciate your sharing anything you have. Thank you.
