I am very interested in this! I believe there might be a "family connection" for James M. Smith & Caleb Holloway. Will try to explain my reasoning and my "dilemma"!
My husband's 2nd great grandfather was ROBERT MAYS SMITH b.12-25-1804 in Edgefield County. His parents were SARAH DEAN, daughter of WILLIAM DEAN & SARAH REBECCA HARTLEY WITHERS, and JOHN SMITH. SARAH died in 1807. ROBERT was mentioned in WILLIAM's will as a grandson, his mother proven in the will of MARGARET DEAN HOLLOWAY, another daughter of WILLIAM and wife of CALEB HOLLOWAY. Would love to know more on this JAMES SMITH since this is the first "crumb" I have picked up on any SMITH relationship to this family. Really "dead-ended" on old JOHN!
