Hello Robert,

Thanks for the information. Trying to do research in SC from 3,000 miles away gets tricky sometimes.

What we are trying to do is find an Isaac Toomer who is thought to be the son of Joshua but no luck as of yet. We had a clue that Joshua might have been in the Dorchester area. We also know that Joshua had land in what is now the Newberry-Laurens county area but no luck there either.

Thanks for your help with the Toomer question. Now for an other one on a different subject.

I am also trying to find the father of a Chesley Hughes b about 1782. We know Chesley was married about 1810 to a Margaret Hendricks of Laurens county but cannot tie him to any of the Hughes' we have checked.

I am beginning to think his father was a Loyalist during the Revolution as was Margaret Hendricks father and Uncle.

Have you come across a Chesley Hughes as you have done your Hughes research?
