Harden "Hardy" Williams' Will reads that he had a son named John and a brother named Phillip and a newphew named John. He died in 1790 and resided on/near Cattles Creek where he had property and a mill.

There is no mention of a James in the reading of this Will. However, the progenitor of our Williams Fam., Ambrose Williams b. 1725-30, named a son James but to my knowledge Ambrose never lived in Colleton or Dorchester and I have documents placing his son, James, elsewhere. Ambrose lived in Brunswick & Lunenburg Co., VA and Orange and Burke Co., NC. However, he had this brother Harden and a zJohn that I am trying to document.

If you find any descendants of your James E. Williams named Harden or Ambrose, I suspect there is a connection to our Line.

We have a Williams DNA Project if you are interested. That's one sure way of finding a connecting living Williams for your line. Look at: http://www.williams.genealogy.fm/
