Our 4X (and 3X) great grandfather James E. Williams was living on the St. George Dorchester parish side of the Edisto River near Cattle Creek around 1790. By 1800 he had moved to the St. Bartholomew Parish (Colleton County) side of the Edsito, almost directtly across from Cattle Creek.

James E, Williams was born about 1750 and very little is known about his past. We don't know who his parents were or where he was born. Some researchers say he was from Wales, probably because Williams is a common surname in Wales. DNA hints the family was Scotch. We do know he was married to Catherine Hamilton.

Was wondering if Hardy Williams' will mentioned James E. Williams or possibly Thomas Williams.
