I am a descendant of Asa and Susan (Turner) Dees. I have a photocopy of this clipping from a 1949 Bell County, Texas, newspaper: "Three Sisters Reunited After 61 Years "VILAS, Jan. 10---Mrs. J. F. Livingston of here, Miss Lillie Dees of Rogers and Mrs. Ida Welch of Pageland, S. C., three sisters, met for a reunion for the first time in 61 years at the Livingston home in Vilas. "Mrs. Livingston, formerly Miss Bessie Dees of Monroe, S. C., last saw her sister, Mrs. Welch, when she was 14. The family left South Carolina, but Mrs. Welch remained in South Carolina to wed her childhood sweetheart. "Through the 61 years the two families corresponded. A short time ago, Marvin Livingston, a grandson of Mrs. Livingston who was stationed in North Carolina, contacted the relatives and made plans for the reunion. "Other guests at the reunion were Mrs. Edna Myers and granddaughter, Miss Maggie Myers, of Pageland, S. C., Mr. and Mrs. H. C. Bennet and daughter of Belton, White Rollens and family of Temple, Gus Rollens and Purcell Bennet and family of Rogers and Mrs. B. F. Dees and daughters. "Mr. and Mrs. Ira Livingston and family, Mr. and Mrs. Adley Warren and family, all of Seabrook [Harris County, Texas], Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Livingston and family of Houston, Mr. and Mrs. G. J. [Garland Jennings] Livingston of Camp Hood and Clarence Livingston." I believe Monroe (Union County) North Carolina, is correct (not South Carolina). Bessie was Sophronia Dees before marrying James Franklin Livingston. Ida was Ida Minerva Dees, before marrying James Welch. Asa (born about 1839) in 1896 married Mary A. (last name unknown) and in 1900 was living in Monroe, N. C. (I am trying to find his place and date of death and place of burial. (Likewise Mary A. Dees.) Notify Administrator about this message?
