Thanks for the information, particularly the reference to Robert Mills' 1825 map. Of interest to me, one of my ancestors in Duplin Co., NC married Mahala Kirby (widow of George Kirby of Darlington). Per the 1825 map, the name Kirby also shows up in Chesterfield Co. and in close proximity to the Batts.

The Historical Society of Chesterfield County completed a cemetery survey that evidently includes a “Batts Family Cemetery”. Does anyone have access to this item or know how to get a copy of the survey (without traveling to the SC State Archives)? The cemetery is not included in Pigg’s cemetery survey.
