Dear Pat,
Colonel Joseph Brown certainly did have children by another wife. My great, great, great grandmother was one of them, Elizabeth Brown. His will proves that he had children, as they are listed.
I know very little about another of Joseph Brown's wives, Hannah Sandeford (Land). I have looked for proof of her marriage to Benjamin Land, but have not found it. The children I have for Hannah and Benjamin Land are Thomas Cloyd Land and Charlotte Land. I did not know that Charlotte was married to a Thompson. (Which makes it very interesting, because my Elizabeth Brown, married an Alexander Thompson.)I have a note beside Charlotte's name that said she resided at Fishing Creek in the York District of SC. I also have a that Thomas Cloyd Land moved to Kentucky. I would be very interested in following this line, to get the fact correctly entered in my files.
I do know that Hannah and Joseph Brown did not have any children.
I do hope this helps in some way. I would love to compare data.
Best regards,
Dorothy O'Neill
