Yeadon Family of Charleston, SC

Hi,

I have been doing some research on the Yeadon family of Charleston, South Carolina, as part of my continuing Steedman family work. It would seem that the immigrant founder of the family was a Richard Yeadon who came to America from England before the revolution. I have developed a framework of the family through late 1800s; however, I am finding a lot of holes in my knowledge.

For instance, Col. Wm. Yeadon, born about 1774, had two wives. The first seems to have been born in the 1780s and they married about 1800. Who was she? They had a son Steedman V. Yeadon about 1819. This suggests that she was a Steedman, but I can find no link. His second wife whom he married in 1833 was a Steedman. At least on of his daughters from first marriage married a Steedman about 1829.

If you have any information or sources of information, I would be interested in hearing from you at gene -at- tqsi.com.

thanks,
John Lisle
