Langley Page 211 Book G-G, p. 328 8 May 1745 Counterpart of Conveyance in Trust Samuel Perkins, coachmaker, & Sarah his wife, to John Watson, merchant, both of Charleston, for £1525 currency, that part of a lot in Charleston, bounding E 50 ft. on the street leading by the Presbyterian Meeting House; N 235 ft. on Mary Hext (formerly Jonathan Tubb); S on Dr. Jacob Martin; W on Mrs. Martha Booth (formerly Samuel West); in trust for said Sarah Perkins; she to have full control. Whereas by L&R dated 10 & 11 Nov. 1735 from Catherine Chicken, widow of George Chicken, Esq., of Berkeley Co., to George Ellery, gentleman, of Charleston, reciting that whereas Abraham Eve, Esq., & Hannah his wife, by deed poll dated 15 Apr. 1719 sold George Chicken a lot in Charleston, being the N lot of Schenckingh’s Square; & whereas GEORGE CHICKEN DIED INTESTATE ON 12 MAR. 1726 & the lot was inherited by his oldest son & heir, George Chicken; & that whereas by L&R dated 8 & 9 June 1731, George Chicken & his wife Lydia, sold the lot to Catherine Chicken; & whereas by said L&R Catherine Chicken sold to George Ellery; who with his wife Ann, by L&R dated 23 & 24 Nov. 1735 sold the E half of the lot to Thomas Henning, merchant, of Charleston, being the E half of the N lot of Schenckingh Square, bounding E 50 ft. on the street leading from White Point by the old Presbyterian Meeting House; W 235 ft. on other half belonging to Childermas Croft; N on Jonathan Tubb & heirs of Edward Weekly; S on Dr. Jacob Martin (formerly Daniel Gibson); & whereas Henning died intestate in 1741 & Benjamin Smith, Joseph Shute, Robert Thorpe, & Alexander Wood were legally appointed administrators; & whereas John Simpson the younger, of London, on 29 Nov. last obtained a judgment against the executors on Hennings bond dated in London 28 July 1735 payment of £741:10 British on 20 July then next & obtained a writ of fieri facias from Benjamin Whitaker, C.J., on 1 Jan. last commanding the Provost Marshal to collect £11,856 SC & £64:16:10-½ for costs; & whereas Samuel Hurst, P.M. on 10 Mar. last, at public auction, for £1525 currency, sold to Samuel Perkins, the said lot with its houses; now Samuel Perkins & Sarah his wife, convey the lot to John Watson in trust for Sarah; the £1525 currency being the property of said Sarah, a part of her estate before her marriage to Samuel, & secured to her by Samuel by certain articles executed before their marriage.
