Does anyone know where I would go to find information on ancestors in Bamberg Co, SC? I live near there and have plans to go down there next week, but I was wondering if anyone has been there to search before and could offer me tips. Also, most of the info that I have gotten as "hand-me-downs" on the Bambergs says that nost of them were born in Barnwell. Was there a Bamberg county back then? Would I look for them in Bamberg or Barnwell? I know I sound pretty ignorant for living so close (30 minutes). So, any help would be appreciated.
