My ggg grandfather lived in or near Williamston, SC., in the late 1700's and left there in 1818. His name was listed as Crider when he attened the Big Creek Baptist Church. After moving to Mo. he changed his name to Grider.
I am answering this because I have not been able to find any of the Grider research that shows him to be a member of any listings. He always said that he was Scotch Irish, so I was wondering if his name could have been McCrider in the beginning. He is Christopher Columbus Grider born in Va. Have always thought he was German.
