2 Named Isaac Elrod
Posted by: Sue S (ID *****1788) Date: April 08, 2004 at 11:35:36

I am trying to sort out some of the very early Elrods who lived in the Carolinas. I am hoping that someone can clarify if there were 1 or 2 Isaac Elrods who were born about 1769-1775 in North Carolina.
Adam and Rachel (Wainscott) Elrod had a son named Isaac born about 1769. He married Elizabeth Stanton in 1788. Isaac's older brother, Abraham, married Elizabeth Stanton's sister, Margery. The brothers Abraham and Isaac and their wives moved to Pendleton District, South Carolina. Isaac was listed there on the 1800 and 1810 Censuses.
The census record for the Isaac Elrod listed in Pendleton District, SC in the 1820 Census doesn't match very well with the family of this Isaac. World Family Tree disk 77 #1329 shows another Isaac Elrod living in Pendleton District, SC. He was a little younger, reported as born about 1775, and was married to Nancy Oldham (born 3/20/1776), daughter of George Oldham and Susannah "Sukey" Hensley.
Can anyone confirm or refute the existence of 2 men named Isaac Elrod, about the same age, living in Pendleton Distric, SC? Interestingly enough, my list of children for the Isaac Elrod who married Eliz. Stanton shows that their eldest son (born 1791) was named George.
