I am looking for a Thomas P. HOLLAND born 11 Oct 1836 in Anderson, SC. According to an 1864 document, his family moved to Salem, Clarke County, Georgia when he was just thee months old. His mother died when he was four (1840) and he was 12 he went to Athens, GA and apprenticed himself in the printing trade to John H. Christy, then proprietor of the Southern Whig. Some years later he moved to Atlanta, Georgia, and engaged himself to Col. C. R. Hamilton, and extensive job printer of that city, to serve two years more as an apprentice.
On the 5th of March, 1854 he married Sarah Elizabeth RENEAUm the youngest daughter of Rev. Russell RENEAU, a PE in the GA Conference of the ME Church. According to a document I have, he and Sarah had five children born between 1854 and 1861. I only know the name of one, Ella Alma HOLLAND born 31 Dec 1854.
On 20 Apr 1861 he joined Company D of the 2nd GA VIR, as a private and was captured on 3 Jul 1863 at the Battle of Gettysburg and sent to Elmira POW Camp in Elmira, NY.
I have no more information on this Thomas P. HOLLAND. His wife, Sarah E. RENEAU, was my great-grand aunt.
Any information on what happened to this family is appreciated......
