researching WILLIAMSTON area of Anderson
Posted by: Mariah Date: August 15, 1999 at 13:40:43

Does anyone know where older records for the Williamston area of Anderson County can be located? I'm having a dickens of a time since many were destroyed/lost due to unfortunate circumstances. I need to be able to do original document searches on our Kelley line. (other known surnames in this line in Anderson County include Williams, Waldrep, Manley, Taylor, with the possibility of Hutto)

Even city hall doesn't know where to start me hunting. . . *grrrrrrr*. Looking for vital records, any family documents/bibles, land transactions, anything prior to 1915.
Joe Edward Kelley, who died 1915 according to obit from the Anderson paper, was a lawman in the town of Williamston and is our last documented, but the police there cannot give me any further info.

There are a number of Kelleys buried in Big Creek, with our most recent in Forest Lawn.

Thanks in advance for any pointers on researching this area.

Gratefully,
Mariah
