Can someone help me find available resources in Anderson, SC to research, or a genealogy group that lives there that can help. The local library does not have any genealogy records that help. Looking for info on family that immigrated to the U.S. around 1870's from Austria-Poland (Galicia, Astro-Hungarian Empire). Catherine and Andrew (Henry) Leece (Lease according to the 1880 Census). They came over with the following children: Marion Sophia Michael and possibly Mary Joseph and Anna were born in South Carolina I know the family ended up in Little Rock, Arkansas by 1891 by marriage records and 1900 Federal Census. I need to located immigration records and any records while in South Carolina, such as Naturalization applications and Catholic church baptismal records. The Family appears in the 1880 census as Andrew and Catherine “Lease” living in Hopewell, Anderson County, South Carolina. According to the 1880 census Mary was born in Poland and the next two (2) siblings Joseph and Anna were born in South Carolina in 1878 and 1879 respectively. If Mary was in fact born in South Carolina, then that would support the 1873 date of immigration that the other siblings have in their census records. Peter (Marion) and Michael Leece would have filed for their U.S. Naturalization papers. According to census record, Peter Leece was naturalized a U.S. citizen in 1884. It is unclear if the naturalization took place in Anderson County South Carolina. Notify Administrator about this message?
