I haven't done any genealogy in a long time, but some dinner conversations at Thanksgiving got me back on the trail.

Tonight I came across new info on Some of it was actually posted on my Wilbanks forum but I never made the connections.

1920 Census
John & Lela in Anderson, Banks County GA
(Roll: T625_234; Page: 13A; Enumeration District: 6; Image: 177)
with a widowed daughter listed as "Marie E. Greenwood" and two kids, Frank and Birdell Greenwood. I am sure this is actually our Maggie Seay. Other records even show her as Margie so I am not sure which was her real name.

My Wilbanks site has an obit for Frank posted at and one for Frank's wife at
but I was never able to connect to them until now.

Ancestry also shows a WW1 Draft Registration card from Maysville, Jackson County GA for John Bronce Greenwood, showing him as married with two kids. Maysville GA was also the home of Rufus Brown whose first wife was Lela Wilbanks Seay's sister Martha. The draft card shows John was born in Macon County NC so we can be sure he's our guy!

Since Maggie/Margie/Marie shows as a widow in 1920 I wonder if John was drafted and sent to fight the war?

And another surprise.....Frank Greenwood's wife was a Wilbanks, but I have nothing to show her connected to our line. They lived in Taylors SC. I have been there. It is a pretty small community. In fact I was there for a Wilbanks reunion, although I didn't think it was my line.....but who knows, maybe we will all ultimately connect!

I did a bit more research and discovered that John Greenwood was the son of James Franklin W. Greenwood, b. 17 Dec 1854 in Surry Co.,NC; d. 6 Oct 1918 in Macon Co.,NC; md. 24 Jul 1873 in Macon Co.,NC to Mary Ann Lewis, b. 13 Aug 1854 in Macon Co.,NC; d. 22 May 1922 in Macon Co.,NC.

Hopefully this is all news and will get you interested in more research. What else have you learned in the last couple of years? Pass on my best wishes to your folks.
