I am looking for info on my gr grandaddy, Andrew "Jack" Hunter. He was born in the Abbeville district around 1815, give or take 5 yrs. For some reason, he was sent to Alabama for relatives to raise and I can't even find the names of those relatives. One of his best friend in Alabama was Oscar Vassar. He was so ashamed of his parentage that he buried the family bible and no one has ever found it. My uncle told me that it was because of the "Indian" parent. I never found out if that was his father or his mother. It was a horrible ugly secret and no one would speak of it especially to a child. He married Lovey A Summerlin in Alabama and had children by her, including my grandmother, Lovey Ann Hunter. Any help here would be so appreciated.
