For a long time now I have known that I am connected to the Sawtell family of Vermont and I have found it very difficult to trace this person down.
I have an Elvira Sawtell/Sauttle, the later spelling was noted in one of her sons death certificates.
She was born 31 May 1817 in Vermont and married somtime prior to 1843 to William Jenkins of Springfield, Windsor Co., Vermont. He was born 8 Jan. 1811.
They first moved to Jo Davies Co., Illinois and then on to Clayton Co., Iowa. Finally settling in Bremer Co., Iowa where they both died and are buried in the Harlington Cemetery, Waverly, Bremer Co., Iowa.
Elvira died 15 Dec. 1897 and William died 16 July 1890.
They are my gr gr grandparents and I would love to learn more on this family.
