Seeking information about the Francis SAWDON family. Oral history says that his paternal grandparents came to USA, likely from England by 1786, into port at Philadelphia. His paternal grandmother is supposed to have died at sea on the way to US.
Francis SAWDON (1823-1893)m Hannah ROBERTS ( 1826-1893) in 1846, possibly in Indiana. Children: 1.Elmer Woodbury SAWDON m Jennie MOORE; 2. Sarah Jane SAWDON m George MENDELL; 3. Mary Catherine SAWDON; 4. Rachel Ann SAWDON m John STALEY;5. Wm. Samuel SAWDON m Rose Ann HARNS; 6. Benjamin Plummer SAWDON; 7. Robert Gilbert SAWDON; 8. Ida Effie SAWDON m Francis X. HICKS in 1885 in Iowa.
Locations for this family include Indiana & Iowa, later on the west coast including The Dalles, Oregon.
At least one of Francis' sons was a missionary in the Oregon territory.
