Mabel Friesen, 93, of Mountain Lake, died Monday, April 9, 2007, at Sogge Memorial Good Samaritan Center, Windom.
Born March 12, 1914, in St. James, she was the daughter of Peter and Susan Nickels Sawatzky.She married Arno Friesen Sept. 9, 1937, at the First Mennonite Church, Mountain Lake.
She received her education in a local country school, Mountain Lake Bible School and graduated from Butterfield High School.After marriage, they lived near Mountain Lake until retiring and moving into Windom in 1980.In 2004, they returned to live on the farm with their son and daughter-in-law.She was a member of First Mennonite Church, Butterfield, where she was active in the mission societies, Sunday school and camp program.
Surviving are her husband; three children, Carolyn (Paul) Roth, North Newton, KS, Stanley (Gladys) Friesen, Mountain Lake, and John Friesen, Lincoln, NE; four grandchildren; and eight great grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today and 7:30 to 8:30 a.m. Friday at Bjerum Funeral Home, Mountain Lake.The memorial service will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday at First Mennonite Church, Butterfield, with the Rev. Leroy Reynolds officiating.Burial will be in First Mennonite Church Cemetery, Butterfield.
