Dear Monique,

I answered an earlier query you sent and forgot to mention the native american part. We believe that there were native am's and they are supposed to be Cherokee, I believe. I think that the native am. came into the family through the Weems family. Mary Weems married a Savoy, who already had both white and African Am blood in the few generations before, which would be in the 1800's.

Can you provide some more of the names of the children that were born in the family of the descendant who married Simmons? Where do your Savoy's come in? I know there is mention, many times of "Indians" in families and the "Indians" were really African American's, However, this does not exclude the fact that there were many native am's that married African Am's.

Have you checked what native american's were living in that area? Then you can most likely find information on the individual tribes. There are census's that were made of the various tribes and these are available through various outlets.

Best regards,
