John Savage of County Antrim, Ireland married Margaret Todd of Cambusnethan (1830's ?) and worked at the Coltness Iron Works, Newmains, Lanarkshire, Scotland (parish of Cambusnethan). Their daughter Elizabeth married John McGown on 19/12/1862 in that Parish - around this time John became known as McGowan.
John and Elizabeth had 2 daughters Margaret and Sarah (Sarah died about 2yrs of age), followed in 1870 by Henry and in 1873 by John. In 1879 they emigrated to Otago, New Zealand.
John and Margaret Savage also had a daughter Alison b abt 1848, and a daughter Jane born about 1849. Margaret died 29 March 1854 and is buried in the Cambusnethan Churchyard, as is John who died 9 December 1882 - where?
The 1861 census is the last listing I have found for this family. If you can help with any information that would be fantastic.
