We cannot be certain that Donus is Virginie’s son but the evidence points us in that direction.

Donus may have been born in 1875 and would still be 5 in 1881. Virginie would be 18 in 1875.

Louise Souchereau was born March 1828. In 1875 she would have been 47. On the 1881 Canadian census the relationship of household members to the head is not stated.

Louise Souchereau had all of her children baptised. There is no baptism for Donus.
On the 1891 census Donus would be 15 years old and he is not with Jean Baptiste Sauve and Louise Souchereau at Tilbury. Unfortunately, there is no access to the 1890 U.S. census that we are aware of and we cannot find James and Virginie or Donus on the 1891 Canadian census.

On Virginie’s obituary in it is said “she is survived by two sons” … “Surviving are two sons Dennis Sovie, Leamington …”
