Richard thank you for that info. I was able to find the 1870 Census for Copiah Co. Mississippi that shows a Wade Saunders, age 30, farmer born in TN. His wife may have been a Lucinda, born in TN. Children Mary Frances Saunders age 10. William R. Saunders age 6. Wondering if you have any other info on this Wade Saunders or his wife Lucinda? Mary Frances Saunders married John Wesley Weathersby. 1900 Census, Fosters Creek, copiah Co. MS. Children: Jane M., Ward W., Minnie E., Ruth, Berty, John H., Howard, Henry & Boone. I also have Saunders on both sides of my family. From the Moffett side I have a Elizabeth Moffett married Merry Arthur Saunders of Warren County Georgia. And a sister, Ellen married John Saunders, brother of Arthur Merry. I think this may have been early 1800's. It is written in a family diary from Abigail Jordan Moffett. She speaks of before the old Revolutionary War. Elizabeth Saunders was widowed at age 40 and raised 9 children. The descendents of Elizabeth Saunders(Abigail's grandmother) was 9 children. She had a half brother in Jasper Co. Georgia named David Hunter. Does any of this sound fimilar to you? I wish I had exact dates. But am giving you what I have from her diary. I beleive it was written in 1884. But she starts several years back. Hopefully I can find out where the Saunders came from? Notify Administrator about this message?
