Discovery roots in the middle east, approaching embassy and family

Hi have several things I'm wondering before I seriously pursue genetic testing and tracking down my family in Saudi Arabia.

First short back story: my father is Mohamed Al-Hedaithy (I"m sure there are many by this name in Saudi -- don't have a more specific hyphenated name). He is perhaps 50 years old now. In the 80s he was an international student near San Diego, CA. My mother was a run away wild child. They met --- booze+sex=my conception. Muslim + white women = major legal, moral, religious consequences under Islamic law. So naturally he fled leaving no trace -- no photos, no contact info nothing.

So now I'm a 30 year old man with a major piece of myself missing. I've had this in the back of my mind for years and now think it's time to pursue this seriously before the old man dies.

So --- my thought is to get a genetic profile done from 23andme.com and hope that the test is seen as valid.

Wondering several things:
(1) Should I approach the embassy? Would they be of any assistance if in the event the genetic profile is able to pin point a family and their addresses? Budget is limited so looking into a private investigator to find a history the postal addresses of the family may be an issue.
(2) is there an english speaking Saudi agency I should consult with?
(3) how likely do you think it would be that the Saudi family I have been disconnected with for 30 years would accept me or return any letters, phone calls e-mails? What recommendations do you have for how I ought to present myself?!?

Hoping to have this test done first part of October (maybe sooner -- depends on finances).

...can't think of anything else right now -- will check this forum periodically. You can also e-mail me damon.l.hansen@gmail.com thanks!!!
