SHREVEPORT, LA - Anatole "A.G." Saucier, Jr., died Sunday, September 06, 2009, at Willis-Knighton Bossier Health Center, from lung cancer complications.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, September 8, 2009, at Lakeview United Methodist Church, 5550 South Lakeshore Drive, with the Rev. Dr. Juliet Spencer, pastor of St. Charles United Methodist Church in Destrehan, La. officiating. She will be assisted by the Rev. Dr. M. Theresa McConnell, pastor of Lakeview United Methodist Church. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday at Forest Park East on St. Vincent Avenue.
Visitation will be 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday, September 7, 2009, at Rose Neath Funeral Home on Marshall Street.
A.G. was born November 20, 1932, and was a lifelong resident of Shreveport. He retired from the Shreveport Police Department in 1978 with the rank of Captain, and retired as Assistant Chief from the Shreveport Airport Authority in 1998.
He was a faithful and active member of Lakeview United Methodist Church, attended Cursillo #57, and was active in NW Ultreya and Louisiana Cursillo. He also was an active member of the Fraternal Order of Police.
A.G. was predeceased by his parents, A. G. and Jessie Saucier, and a sister, Alma Jean Coldiron.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 44 years, Gloria Purcell Saucier; one son, Kim Allen Saucier, granddaughter, Caitlin Claire Saucier, and grandson, Troy Allen Saucier, all of Suffern, N.Y.; sister, Virginia Camardo and husband Anthony of Downers Grove, Ill., and their children, Angela Wollenberg of Lisle, Ill., Pat Camardo of Machesney Park, Ill., and Gina Joyce of Naperville, Ill. and their families; godsons, Lt. J.G. Walter Grayson Point, U.S. Navy, Jarad, Jacob and John Mark Waniewski, all of Bossier City; special friends Ron and Pat Rice, and a host of other friends.
Pallbearers will be C.J. Johnson, Mike Byrd, Mark Waniewski, Jarad Waniewski, Jacob Waniewski, Danny Cole, Norm Parker and John Brandao.
Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Shreveport Police Department and retirees.
The family expresses their sincere appreciation to Dr. Ted Warren, Dr. Raghu Nathan, and the caring nursing staff at Willis-Knighton Bossier Health Center.
