Maria Satterlee, born ca. 1791, married 1st George Littel, a veteran of the War of 1812 and on whose account she received 160 acres of governemnt land. Issue (I think) may have been one child: Maria Louisa, born ca. 1835. Maria married 2nd Frederick Bowne Underhill, who lived in NYC, where the 1840 city directory lists him with a toabcco shop. In 1841, directories list Maria, widow of Frederick, residing at 33 King st. with daughter Maria Louisa in the 8th ward. Maria, as per Underhill Genealogy vol. 5 by Edwin Deats (pg 181)died Feb. 4, 1885 age 94 years in Hollis, NH at the home of her daughter Mrs. Amos Wright. Maria Louisa (was she a Littel? An Underhill?) married George Hodge and went to Australia. Would love to pick up these threads and figure out if this George and Maria, who may be the brick wall I've been smashing my head against, are known to Satterlee and other researchers. I do have a number of old photographs from Melbourne that are unidentified, which makes me think that this line indeed may be mine -- or close. Sue Notify Administrator about this message?
