John,
I am pretty sure that you are talking about the John Satterfield that in the past has been identified, possibly wrongly, as John Isaac Satterfield, Sr.If this is the case then I don't think that it is likely that this John and James, Sr. were brothers.Until recently I thought it likely that James, Sr. and the John that was identified as John, Jr. (Was this John Isaac?) in the tax records were brothers but I have had to change my thinking.
The problem that I ran into was trying to factor John Bedwell Satterfield into the equation. It seems likely that Bedwell was James, Sr. first son.Bedwell received a land grant in 1761, which was likely shortly after his 21st birthday. This would have him being born in 1740 and James, Sr. being born somewhere around 1720.This would seem to indicate that it is more likely that James, Sr. and John, Sr. were brothers, with John being the elder.
I am afraid that little if anything is known about the wife of James, Sr.More than likely it was James, Sr. that was mentioned in the will of Thomas Bridges. This may mean that James married a sister of Thomas but there is no way to tell for sure.
