My great-grandmother was Giuseppa Saso married to Giuseppe Rizzo and they lived in Canarsie on East 92nd St. and an earlier residence on Denton Avenue. She lived from 1869 to 1972. They were originally from Ventimiglia, Sicily. I don't know how many siblings she had but I think one of them was named Filipe or Philip. Her parents were Filipe Saso and Katerina Pollina. I found out her parents names by ordering a copy of the social security application that was filled out when she applied for her social security number (ordered through the link on the social security death index website).
I looked at the 1920 Census and see a nearby neighbor family that lived on what looks like East 90th (handwritten). The last name is spelled "Sasso" but of course the census takers probably made that mistake a lot. I am sure this particular family is related and it looks like it could be your line. The father is Joseph and the mother is Rosaria. They have 8 children and the youngest is Joseph at the age of 6. That means he was born around 1914. Does this sound like your family tree?
