Hi Tori, I think we may have exchanged information before, but in case not... I have found a family in the 1870 census of Eaton, Monroe Co, WI that appears to be your Levi. The last name is listed as Sartford rather than Sartwell, but Levi, Catherine, Albert and George all appear with correct ages. Levi is listed as born in NY rather than VT in this census. His wife was Catherine Gadbaw, daughter of Joseph Gadbaw/Gadbois and Victoire/Electa Hens. Her baptism is listed in the records of St Patricks Church, which covers areas of St Lawrence and Franklin Co, NY. It is possible that Levi is the same Levi Sartwell who served in Co H, 16th NY Infantry during the Civil War. Co H was drawn mostly from the area around Stockholm, NY. I haven't looked into the Stockholm census records for 1860 to see if I can find a Levi there. But there is another Levi Sartwell in St Lawrence Co for the 1860 and 1870 census, so it may be that he is the Civil War Levi. The only other clue I have is a note that there is a a Lee Sartwell buried at Cataract Cemetery in Wisconsin who was a Civil War veteran. I haven't checked with the cemetery to see if they have more details on that person, but it may be worth looking into. Good luck! Notify Administrator about this message?
