Thanks for your quick followup! A little more info from me. Samuel and Joseph Douglass also entered
Springfield from Fort Four in 1753 and lived on Sartwell Hill. Supposedly they were brothers. In 1769 a
Joseph Douglass married Sarah Hall in Springfield. Also in 1769 Abigail Douglass married Eliphalet
Spafford in Springfield. Both Joseph Douglass and Eliphalet Spafford moved to Weathersfield later, or
perhaps just the town lines moved as the two towns were adjacent. Eliphalet came from Rowley or
Boxford, MA. He was born in 1744 and was not at Fort Four. The only Douglass family members in
Springfield were Samuel, Joseph and Abigail; I don't know Abigail's relation to the two men. Abigail is
the one I am trying to trace.
As for Emma Sawtell who married William Coltrin/Coltrain, they first lived somewhere near the Vermont
Massachusetts border--possibly in Colrain, MA.
