My ggm was Mary E. Sargent, daughter of Abraham Benson Sargent, son of Ephraim.
I have some information on her. I am having problems with her husband. She married a C. (Charles or Charlie or Charley) B. (Bartlett of Bartley) White, probably in SC. They had at least 7 children;Aaron b. Aug 24, 1861; Minnie, (my gm) b. Jan23, 1874; Lawrence;Pearl,b. 1870; Ettie, b. Sep 3, 1868; Othella, b. Aug 22, 1863; Harlston b. June 24, 1862. I have visited the graves of Mary, all the girls, and Harleston. All but Minnie are buried in Sulphur Springs, Hopkins Co. TX. Minnie is buried in Mineola, Wood, TX. All the children were born in SC. However, a visit to the SC state archives in Columbia last month proved to be fruitless. Somebody in the family apparently hated census takers.
CB brought the family to Gilmer,Upsher,TX sometime in the mid to late 1880's. I found tax records in Upsher Co. for 1887 and 1888 for a C B White. Minnie married her high school teacher in 1894 in Gilmer. Finding anything re: C B has been worse than finding a needle in a haystack.
Any help would be appreciated.
