NOTE # 1:
W.L (William) Sergeant, son of Elnathan Scholly Sargeant & and grandson of Alfred & Irenia Sargent, is pictured in the 1911 publication entitled “Homecoming and Centennial Souvenir, September 7th, 8th, 9th. (1811 – 1911, Lodi, Ohio).
Under his smiling picture is the caption:
“W.L. SERGEANT – One of Lodi’s Self-made Boys (page 57).
Also pictured are Alfred & Irenia [Brill] Sargent.

Obituary of Elnathan Scholly Sargeant
( Son of Alfred and Irenia BRILL Sargent / Sargeant )
Elnathan Scholly Sargeant was born in Stuckeley Shefford county, Province of Quebec, October 4, 1833; died December 21, 1912, aged 79 years, 2 months and 17 days.
At the age of four years he came with his parents, Alfred and Irene BRILL Sargeant, and settled on the farm now owned by Frank Henry in the northeast corner of Harrisville township [Medina County, Ohio]. There he lived until 1853, when he went west for three years. In 1856 he returned to the old home. On Feb. 17, 1858, he married Ellen L. Wood, an old friend and schoolmate. In 1862 he enlisted in the 128th O. V. I. [Ohio Volunteer Infantry], and served three years. In 1866 he moved to Missouri, but in 1877 returned to Ohio to care for his parents in their declining years where he remained until November 8, 1911, when he came to Medina to spend his remaining days with his son, W. L. Sargeant. That son passed to the great beyond on December 11, 1911, since which time he, with his wife, remained with the family of his son in Medina.
Mr. Sargeant had been an invalid for four years. He leaves to mourn him his wife, one son, seven grandchildren, on great grandson, one brother, two sisters and a host of friends.

NOTE: Elnathan Scholly Sargeant was the brother of Irenia Albina Sargent / Sargeant (Mrs. William Sayles).
