To Mike Sargeaunt I believe that my father is half brother of Footballer HA Sargeaunt born ?1907 in Newcastle. I recall my father telling me that he played for Hull City.
I have just started to trace my tree. My father John was half brother to Henry Anthony whose father was Henry Edward George.HEG married in Richmond Yorkshire 1891.He married twice (HA being to the 1st) as his first wife died. There are 6 children to 1st marriage and 2 to 2nd my father being the latter.
I have in my possession a war medal to Stuart Sargeaunt born 1897 Richmond killed in 1st world war.( 1st marriage)
It appears to be a complex tree with yet another marriage of my father's mother when HEG was killed during 1st world war.
I also recall that Henry Anthony had a son Henry Edward John Sargeaunt who was killed when HMS Hood sank. There is a memorial in Portsmouth.
I hope this is of some help. I am waiting for my fathers birth cert to try and clarify his mothers name etc as I believe she was the sister of HEG's 1st wife.
