Hi Annette,
FANCONI APLASTIC ANEMIA is a very rare genetic blood disease
When it effects families it is devasting because the only treatment is a bone marrow transplant.
I lost a daughter to this disease in 1991 post bone marrow transplant.
My husband's family is from San Giuseppe Jato, P, Sicily and Riesi, Sicily. His maternal side of the family has
Thalassemia minor. He has a 95 year old Aunt who has it and her son and two of their children.

Thank you for asking. Where do you live in Sardinia?
My daughter HLA B 18. They have a high incidence of B 18 in the Sardinia population. Her dad's people were from near Rome. Ancestors could have been from Sardinia too.
Ciao, Gayle L.
