My grandfather was Manuel Esmeraldo Salis Gonzalez, who was born in Cuba in 1891-92, the son of Manuel Salis Molina and Dolores Gonzalez. Salis is not a common Cuban name, nor is it very common in Spain. I know that the name is quite common in Sardinia.
Is anyone researching Salis families in Sardinia? Was there ever much emigration from Sardinia to Cuba?
