Maria Sardinia, from Sardinia to Cuba
Posted by: Ed Stalling Date: December 07, 1999 at 18:44:49

My great-aunt, in writing her family history recollections, wrote that our
GGG Grandfather, Don Ricardo Sardinia, was a Grandee of the Spanish King.
Because he fell in love with a "peasant" girl ( I guess a bad thing for a
Grandee), the King sent him to Cuba. But he also gave him land and let him
take his servants with him. He had a daughter named Maria de Jesus Sardinia,
born about December 8, 1832. I have one record that indicates that Maria de
Jesus was born in Sardinia. She married Richard Hatton and she died in 1903. Anyone know anything about this family or emmigration to Cuba from Sardinia?
