BTW I worked with an Amy Shepley (married name) here in the states for several years and have recently lost touch with her. I know she was interested in both her and her husband John's genealogy. This gives me an incentive to reconnect and if she has discovered anything I'll let you know.

Regarding the Smith's, I too have a maternal Gmom with the last name Boyd from Ireland. Really common. It could be worst if you had Johnsons in the family. The Boyd sites turn up lots of Presbyterians but not so many RCs. The challenge is what makes it fun... usually.
