Dear Gary: I believe that the only way I am going to be able to trace my de Santos line is through a cousin that carries the name. I will have to contact my 2nd cousin to see if she knows of a male Santos relative in Mexico that would be willing to participate in the DNA project.
I do have a question, Gary. My 2nd cousin, Elvira, is the niece of my maternal grandfather Santiago de Santos. If she has her DNA done, the way I understand it, her DNA line would be through her mother, { my grandfather's sister}, and my maternal great- grandmother, Praxedes Martinez. I hope I have that right !!!!
I did mail my own DNA on 7- 3- 06. I'm looking forward to getting my results in 6 weeks.
My interst in genealogy started with my late husband, Harold W. Pribble. I have traced his family back 322 yrs. to Thomas Pribble who came to America from England in 1684. My oldest son, Peter, is going to have his DNA done.
Thank you for explaining DNA. I want to know my de Santos line so much I wish I could cross the DNA line.
