Dear De Los Santos researchers. When GenForum first came on line I requested a new forum for the surname DE LOS SANTOS. My request was denied on the basis that there were not enough researchers of this name. I was told to use the SANTOS forum. It's been years now and it's clear to me that there are plenty of us researching this particular surname. It would be so nice not to have to sift through all many messages posted to find those that are specific to the DE LOS SANTOS surname. While it is true that some of the DE LOS SANTOS dropped the "DE LOS" and became "SANTOS" there are still plenty that didn't. I firmly believe that unless we make multiple requests they may just deny my request thinking that I am still a lone researcher. Please, if you care, submit a request for a new board/forum for DE LOS SANTOS.
I had a hard time finding the location of the application, but finally found it by doing the following:
From any of the message boards go to the bottom of the page and click on “help”, which will take you to a page with 3 tabs at the top…one of them is titled “Find an Answer”. That page has a field for you to enter a question or key word.
Type in “request a new surname”. When it finishes searching you should have 8 results listed. The very first is “How do I request a message board?”. Click on that question and it will take you to a page that talks about this subject and offers you a “New Forum Application”. Click on that and fill in the correct surname as well as your name and email addy. That’s all there is to it. The hardest thing is finding that application. It used to be available on the home page.
