All Madeira Island ancestors

While I was doing my family tree on holiday on Madeira Island I used the arquivo da Madeira, which has all kinds of records to help you find ancestors, I asked for photocopies of my grandparents baptism entries (not birth certificate) in the church baptism book. I did this because on it, it states their grandparents (my great, great grandparents) and other information that was interesting like date of death and marriage (these were written in probably by the priest at a later date). They have a web site at http://www.arquivo-madeira.org/ select the “Informações Úteis” section and the e-mail address is stated.

Send them an e-mail if you have the name of the person, the parish (freguesia) they were born in, and the date of birth. They will charge for this service and it will probably be in Portuguese, so if u don’t understand it, use a translator like http://babel.altavista.com/tr

Visit www.latino1.freeserve.co.uk to see my family tree, maybe we are related!!!! If u have any info that will help me e-mail me at boxeos@yahoo.co.uk

Hope this has been of some help. Let me know if u r successful!!!
