Here is the information I have about Noahdiah Sanger and his ancestors. There is a lot of published info about the Sangers in Connecticut records and other published sources (not sure how accurate some of the published info is, so the earlier data below should really be double-checked).
Rebeccah Barret Bacon Sanger and several of her children and grandchildren are buried in the Middlebury, Elkhart Co, cemetery.I believe her husband is, too, but there is no stone for him.You can see many of the stones online.
Rebeccah Barret Bacon was probably born 1 July 1785 in Bolton, Worcester Co, MA, and died 15 October 1861 in Middlebury, Elkhart Co, Indiana. Her parents were probably Noah Bacon and Mary Brown. The couple had 11 children. They lived in Willington until approx 1813, when they moved to Cambridge, NY, then to Perry, Genessee Co, NY.By 1832, they were in Centerville, Alleghany Co., NY, and by 1840 in Elkhart Co, Indiana.
Noahdiah’s parents were Noahdiah Sanger, born 12 Dec 1738, Woodstock, CT, died 7 Aug 1808, Willington, CT, and Priscilla Russ (b. 23 Febr 1743, Ashford, CT (daughter of Araham and Hannah Russ. They married 14 April 1766 in Willington.
Noahdiah’s parents were Jonathan Sanger (born 8 Sept 1695, Watertown, Middlesex, MA; died 18 May 1767, Willington, Tolland Co, CT) and Lydia Russel (b. prob 1713 in Andover, Essex Co., MA; her parents were Lt. Benjamin Russel & Mary Preston. They married 27 Nov 1731, Woodstock, Windham Co, CT.
Jonathan’s parents were Nathaniel Sanger & Mary Cutter.Nathaniel was one of the original settlers of Woodstock, Connecticut, and a blacksmith. He was born in 1651/52 in Watertown, MA, and died 1734/5 in Woodstock. He married Mary Cutter of Cambridge, MA, who died 19 November 1711 in Woodstock. He married next Ruth Cook on 2 Nov 1713.9 children were from his first marriage (including Jonathan) and 1 from his second.
Nathaniel’s parents were Richard Sanger, b. 1620, probably Southampton, England, d. 1659, Boston, MA, and Mary Reynolds (daughter of Robert & Mary Reynolds of Boston).Richard arrived 1638 in Massachussetts on the “Confidence” and settled first at Sudbury and later at Watertown.
I have info on some of Noahdiah’s children and their descendants if you are interested.I do not know much about Riley Sanger and his descendants and would be interested in learning more about them.
Hope that helps.Karin
