James & Rebecca Sandy, Bristol, Gloucestershire 1800's
I am researching the Sandy family from Bristol, Gloucestershire England and not having much success. Can you help?
Specifically, I am trying to find out more about James and Rebecca (Jules or Jewels) Sandy...residence, occupations, all children's names etc.
Based on information garnered from an old letter written by my, Great Grandfather...the following is what I am working from:
James Sandy lived in Bristol, Gloucestershire, England (birthdate and other details not known) and died in 1872 or 1873. He married Rebecca Jules when he was 50 years old and Rebecca was 20 years of age. They had nine children together. James died at age 81. Rebecca remarried and her name became Rebecca Barnston (or Barnstron) Eventually her 2nd husband passed away and she lived her remaining years with a daughter in Taunton, England.
James and Rebecca's oldest child was Robert Charles Sandy. Robert was born December 4th 1843 and he married Charlotte Hawkins December 14, 1867. The marriage took place in Holy Trinity St. Philip Church, Bristol, Gloucester, England. (This I have verified and have documentation...also their son John Thomas Sandy was Christened in that same church). Robert Charles Sandy is my Great, Great Grandfather.
Robert and Charlotte Sandy had their first child, John Thomas Sandy on October 7, 1867. He was christened on October 1867 in the same church as they were married. They also had a daughter, Florance Sandy who was born 1869/1870. (I have documentation that verifies these items)
Robert, Charlotte, son John Thomas Sandy and baby Florance left England for the United States on board the ship "Victory". The vessel sailed from Liverpool, England and the family arrived in New York harbor on June 22, 1870. (This has been verified).
I would like to find out anything to fill in the gaps on James and Rebecca Sandy.
