SANDS connections to the children of Robert SUTTON--he was born bef. 1675-LI, NY

In my attempt to document the parents of my gggg grandfather, Stephen Sands, I have come across many pieces of information that involve the children of Robert and Hannah Sutton. For example, I believe my gggg grandfather is the grandson, Stephen Sands, mentioned in Jeremiah Dodge's 1774 Will--Jeremiah Dodge's wife was the second child of Robert and Hannah Sutton.

The following information is my way of sharing the connections I have found so far. It is also my way of inviting input from other researchers. Most of the information is from extensive postings on by Bob and Mary Beth Wheeler. To read that information yourself, do a search at RootsWeb with these details:
Surname - Sutton
Given name - Robert
Birth Place - South Hampton
Birth Year - 1675
Death Place - Hempstead
Death Year - 1725
Father - Joseph
Spouse - Hannah

12 CHILDREN of Robert & Hannah SUTTON

1-Robert m. Phebe, no children.

2-Elizabeth b. about 1692 in Hempstead; m. Jeremiah DODGE by 14 Aug 1735.
--daughter Phebe married Samuel UNDERHILL. Samuel was the brother of William Underhill. William's wife was Mary SUTTON.* William was a Loyalist/Queen's Ranger. William recruited 162 men for the regiment. William went to New Brunswick after the War.
--daughter _____ married _____ SANDS
---grandson Stephen SANDS, not of age in 1774. My gggg grandfather, a Queen's Ranger, was born in 1761.

3-Joseph b. about 1694 in Hempstead; m. Mary SANDS b. 1701 (daughter of James and Sarah Walker SANDS, page 5 in Wilson's book "Descendants of James Sands of Block Island").
--son William married Mary SANDS (daughter of Edward & Mary Cornell SANDS, widow of Gideon SANDS, see Wilson's book pages 9 & 14; I think #164 on page 16 is a mistake. Mary was also the sister of George SANDS whose sons Abel and Edward were Loyalists).
---According to the postings, Joseph and Mary Sands Sutton had a grandson named William WARD. Edward SANDS (son of George and Jemima (pg 16 in Wilson's book) named a William WARD in his Will and that William traveled, with Abel Sands, to New Brunswick in 1804 to deal with the probate issues. I haven't sorted out the Ward connection yet.

4-James b. before 1698, d. by 1724

5-Daniel m. Martha

6-Mary b. 1700-1710; m. Tristram DODGE III, a brother of Jeremiah DODGE.
--son Stephen DODGE was a Loyalist and went to Nova Scotia after the Revolutionary War.

7-Hannah m. John Reynolds

9-John b.1714-1716; m. Emma Budd.
--some postings list John and Emma as the parents of Mary SUTTON who married *William UNDERHILL. I can't tell what is correct yet.

10-Deborah m. Charles Haight

Catherine SANDS, daughter of John & Sybil SANDS m. 1730 Edmund MOTT. Their son Richbell MOTT m. 1749 Deborah DODGE, the daughter of Samuel DODGE. Deborah Dodge was the sister of Wilkie Dodge.

Comfort SANDS b. 1748, son of John & Catherine SANDS, m. (1) Sarah DODGE, the daughter of Wilkie DODGE. Wilkie Dodge was the son of Samuel Dodge--the son of William born about 1660 who was the son of the original Tristram born about 1607. Jeremiah DODGE, husband of Elizabeth SUTTON, was a brother of Samuel Dodge--the son of William born about 1660 who was the son of the original Tristram.
