I would appreciate any records you can give me for the children of James & Elizabeth "Gregory" Sandlin. My Baldwin & McDonald ancestors married into this family.
1)My ggg-grandfather was Allen McDonald Jr. His dau. Lucinda E. married Rev. Alfred William Sandlin, son of James & Elizabeth. Who was the father of Cynthia Elizabeth McDonald who married Jesse Sandlin?
2)my gg-grandfather was William Baldwin who married Mary Jane McDonald, dau. of Allen McDonald.
3)William's bro. Thompson Baldwin, married Sarah Ann Sandlin, dau of James & Elizabeth. Can you tell me where Thompson & Sarah Ann are buried? They have five children buried in the Boquefala Baptist Church Cemetery and Thompson Baldwin Jr. is buried in the Fellowship Cemetery at Saltillo, Ms. Their dau. Mary Elizabeth married Henry Merchant. This family is buried in the Red Oak Cemetery, Red Oak, Oklahoma.
4)Cecily Jane Sandlin, dau of James & Elizabeth, married Andrew J. Ballard in S.C. Their son, Columbus Christopher Ballard married Elizabeth F. Baldwin, dau of William Baldwin. After the death of Andrew J. Ballard, Cecily Sandlin Ballard married William Baldwin. This William Baldwin was the son of Mabrey Baldwin, bro. of William & Thompson. Where is Cecily & William Baldwin buried?Do you have records for Cecily's son, Columbus Christopher Ballard?
I found these families listed on the 1860 Census, Itawamba Co., Ms, P.O. Mooresville, Pg.30: D#199 Allen McDonald, D#200 Thomas Ballard married Mary Sandlin, D#201 Alfred Sandlin married Lucinda E. McDonald, D#202 William Baldwin married Mary Jane McDonald, D#203 Thompson Baldwin married Sarah Ann Sandlin, D#204 John Sandlin married Mary McGuire, D#205 James & Elizabeth Sandlin.
I have 10 children listed in the James Sandlin family. Besides the ones listed above, I have Jesse Sandlin (no records), Jane Evelyn Sandlin married J. A. Ballard, Thomas J. Sandlin (no records), Green Sandlin (no records) and Andrew Jackson Sandlin (no records). The Sandlins, Ballards and Baldwins were members of the Boquefala Baptist Church at Mooresville, Ms. Rev. Alfred William Sandlin was one of the ministers at this church. The Baldwins, Ballards, Sandlins, Gregorys and Comers migrated from Union, S.C. to Itawamba Co., Ms. ca. 1846-1860.
I will share all the records I have for these families.E-Mail me at [email protected]
