Does anyone have any information on James Wood Sandiford? Any more about his parents or his brothers and sisters?
He was my g-g-g-grandfather, and I've not managed to find out much about him.
All I know is that he was the son of Mary WOOD and John SANDIFORD, who were supposedly from SC, and that they married in GA in 1804. As James Wood was born in 1828, it would suggest that he was one of thier later children (unless my dates for their marriage are wrong, which may be the case).
He served in the Civil War and married firstly a Nancy APPLEWHITE and had a child, Mary SANDIFORD, with her before Nancy died in 1851.
He then married my ggggrandmother - Martha Emily ARMISTEAD in DeSoto Parish LA on Jan 16 1895 and had one child - Carrie SANDIFORD born in 1870.

I'd like to know more about his family, and if or how he fits into the other Sandiford lines, so if anyone knows anything about him, I would be very happy to hear from you.
Also if anyone knows what happened to his daughter Mary with his first wife Nancy APPLEWHITE I would be very interested.
